Inspired by the zine workshop at hyde park book club this is another zine I will be creating to help expand my experience in book making and increase my knowledge on editorial design.
Black and White photography
Took these photos in various places around Salford, Manchester.
The theme of the zine is to capture the decaying parts of urban culture and the people that are effected by it. The zine will also focus on identity and society in a area which is often put down for it's poverty.
Collage pieces
Through collage and typography I want to express some of my favourite quotes I have found online about social deprivation, poverty, depression and social issues in the manchester areas.
By taking photos of the models facing away or totally being covered by something it represents the fact that the issue is often ignored by the majority of society and not taken seriously; especially mental health.
Here I made the word's scattered and sprawled to showcase the mindset of someone who is perhaps unhappy and reflecting upon their issues within a society that still bases itself up class.
Throughout I made the model's a much bigger scale compared to the background to represent the idea that people should not be judged for their background or the area they live in and that they are more important - so by making them bigger it kind of says "I am more important than the shabby buildings I live in and it should not effect how you think of me".
